I was born in Houston, Texas but grew up in Saltillo, Mexico.
Tecnologico de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico.
I became interested in Engineering while studying Physics in High School and decided to study Chemical Engineering after my father. I started my PhD in Chemical Engineering at MIT in 2012 and joined Prof. Paul Barton’s lab in Spring 2013. The Barton lab specializes in Process Systems Engineering which involves modeling and optimizing chemical engineering and other industrial processes.
My current research is focused in the modeling and optimization of bioprocesses using Dynamic Flux Balance Analysis. In particular, I’m specializing in raceway pond modeling for microbial biomass cultivation. The lipids part in this biomass can be transformed into biodiesel. The idea is to use mathematical modeling to improve the productivity of lipids in raceway ponds.
I like to play tennis, go hiking, go skiing, and cooking. I also like to read, follow politics, and go to the movies.
