Emily Nieves is a Ph.D. student in MIT’s Biological Engineering department and an Alfred P. Sloan 2021-22 Scholar. She is also the recipient of the 2021 Richard A. Denton Presidential Fellowship. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biological Engineering. Previous to joining MIT, she was involved in systems pharmacology research as a part of the Hallow lab and Astrazeneca where she focused on mathematical modeling of diabetic kidney disease.
